When we deploy a streaming video setup for customers, all configuration is completed. Some advanced users may wish to use the ATEM management software to use advanced features. These instructions help ensure that changes stay synchronized so you do not lose access to streaming services when installing updates.
Step 1: Install latest ATEM Switcher Software
The software can be downloaded from the manufacturer:
https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/support/family/atem-live-production-switchers
Look for the newest “Software Update” in the “Latest Downloads” column.
After you download the file, uninstall the previous version manually by going to “Add/Remove Programs” in Windows Settings. And then install the new version to your computer.
Step 2: Install custom streaming.xml file
Before you open the ATEM Software, we need to install a new streaming.xml file. This contains the destination settings for your streaming service.
- Using Windows File Explorer, open the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Blackmagic Design\Blackmagic ATEM Switchers\ATEM Software Control\
- Rename the existing “streaming.xml” to “streaming_orig.xml”
- Download our version from here: https://moltenaudio.com/v/streaming.xml
- Open your Downloads folder on your computer and copy the “streaming.xml” file to the ATEM folder opened above
Step 3: Start ATEM Software Control
It should automatically detect your video switcher if you’re connected to the same network. If not, try connecting directly via USB-C cable.
If there is a firmware update available for your device, it will offer to update automatically.
In the ATEM Software Control, Choose the Output Tab (top right) -> Live Stream -> Platform -> Select “Castr” and enter your stream key, if it’s not already there. If you do not know your stream key, contact us.
